I Fell in love With an Anime

Mahn! This does not hapen very often!
I am a nerd, in a rather lose sense of the word. I have been watching anime for a rather long time. My first was Dragon Ball Z. I still remember the first frame that drew me in; it was Goku's first transformation during the opening song/credits, whatever we may call it. Or maybe it was Gohan, do not quote me on it, but I was hooked at the first sight.

I remember falling in love with show. I could not believe what I was looking at. The amazing visuals, the voilence, the simple smile on the face of the damn MC; Goku I mean. Today, I can still watch the same show and get the same tingle in the pit of my stomach. And I am not just saying it for the sake of the blog.

All this information, just to say that, I just got the same feeling yet again.
November 1st, 2025, I discovered an anime that made me fall in love after about 25 years. Am I being too dramatic? Maybe, but I am so excited that I am writing this at 3:30 AM. Even Naruto could not get me this pumped.

So let me tell you about this anime. And this starts with me talking about me.
I love a good drink. A whiskey highball, or a g&t, or maybe a bloddy marry (my latest favourite). And I cannot have enough conversations about them. I do not much care about the history, but the way they are made, the balance, the temprature, the aromas and the flavours. I am still an amature, and cannot yet distinguish the individual notes, but I have started to see beyond the strong ethanol, and I can tell a good whiskey is from a bad one as well.

And then I came across BARTENDER Glass of God. The anime that has delited me to no end. I am not going to delve into the story. But I do want to talk about what it has done for me. It has inspired me. Inspired me to try something out (Not sure if I will or will not do it). It has made me want to build a bar of my own. Not like a home bar either. A semi professional bar, that allows 5-10 people in a week to come in and try out drinks that I make, because god knowns I love making a good drink. I love shaking a drink in a boston shaker. And I love pouring it with a Hawthorne strainer. I love the cocktail glasses, and putting each drink in its designated glass. And most of all, I love having a chat over a drink. So, I just want to speak to 5-10 people a week over a decent cocktail that I made for them from a small, limited set of recipies that I aim to perfect. For instance, I could not give two flying, yu know whats, about a sex on the beach or a screwdriver. But, a gimlet, or a whiskey bramble, or an old fashioned is something I could ofer to as many people as would like to have a taste. I would love to make a show by burning the sugar cube before dropping a dhash or two of the bitters, or even smoking the cocktails with cheery or oak wook.

And If I end up doing none of this, i could just simply write a story about this dream of mine.

I cannot believe it! I fell in love with an anime, again, for the first time in 25 years.

The Time I Got Chased By A Bull

Before I get into the story, allow me to start with this: No, I am not a matador. I was not on an international trip to Spain. And I was not even teasing the animal.

This happened to me when I was no more than seven years old, just 50 meters away from my home.

I had recently gotten my first bicycle after a month-long pleading with my parents. This is without any support, so a bicycle, in the most literal sense of the word.

Now, allow me to set the scene. I live in a decently rich gated community (not bragging). There are rows of homes facing each other, separated by broad streetways. However, my home is an exception; it faces an electricity board office attached to a park on the left side, and a narrow path on its right side (Remember this narrow path), that connects our street with the next one. And the narrow path ends at the entrance of a neighbour aunty, who is a friend of my mother. I hope you are able to create a mental picture. If not, then you can take a look at the image I am attaching, but I might judge you for being lazy (I am only kidding).
On the fateful evening, around 4 or 5 PM, my elder cousin sister, who is just two years older than me, and I were riding our bicycles. I had only recently received mine, but she had been teasing me with hers for months. So, I was a little extra excited that day, I was teasing her back, as my bicycle was new and shiny and red (I think you know where the story is headed)

It has always been common for us to see cows roaming around the streets in our community. In fact, I once witnessed a cow give birth to her calf in the park attached to the office in front of our house. But that is a story for another time, maybe.

So, as my sister and I were riding our bicycles in the street next to ours, suddenly we heard a voice screaming, "Hat Jao! Dekho!" again and again. And as we looked in the direction of the voice, we saw a huge, large-horned bull running towards us. Its eyes were locked on us, filled with rage and intent to kill. I might have made up the last part just to add dramatic effect. I was 7 and my sister was 9. We don't know what the bull looked like. All we know is that we panicked.

Now, my sister, in her nine-year-old wisdom, did the responsible thing. She left her cycle and ran into the park. On the other hand, the seven-year-old numbnut (Me) was too stupid to even consider that idea. I started peddling at full speed into the narrow path (from before), screaming and crying for mommy, straight towards the aunty's house, where my mother, the aunty and a few more ladies were having tea. I remember hearing the bull bellowing behind me as he chased me. I am told that I was a length away from death.

I do not remember much of what happened after that, but since I am writing this piece, I am guessing I did make it out alive. I also have good reason to believe the story that my mother told me about how I escaped the bull. She was right there.

So apparently, my cries caught the ladies' attention. At first, it took them a few seconds to realise what the hell was happening. As my mother describes it, one of the ladies said, "ye Dhruv ki aawaz hai?" ("Is this Dhruv's voice?"). So they looked out into the street and saw me riding my bicycle towards them, being chased by a bull. At first, they looked at each other, and then the neighbour lady, whose house they were all at, sprang into action and asked my mother to open the full gate. As they both opened the large gate, I rode my cycle inside, and they slammed the heavy iron gate in the face of the bull. Which seemed to subdue him, and he walked away. I actually do have a slight image of the bull's face getting slammed in my head. Maybe it is one I cooked up, but it feels real to me.

As the story goes, I cried for a while after that, and it was my sister, who came running in, 15 minutes later, was able to calm me down by making fun of me for not leaving the bicycle behind.

Come to think of it, it was one of the more traumatic instances of my life, but I tell it with a lot of nostalgic fondness. I think it is far enough removed from reality that now I kind of see it as an adventurous instance from my past. And, I believe that it is a great story to hook a bunch of people at a party or even a get-together.

Anyway, this is my instance. I might bring more of these to you, some from my life, some from my mind, and some from undisclosed sources. So stay tuned.

Koi Humse Bhi Kr Leta Mohobat

Koi humse bhi kr leta jo mohobat

To kya hota,

Kya pata kuch baatain hoti,

Kya pata kuch raatain hoti,

Kya pata ek chunri ke peeche se ek jhalak si hoti,

Kya paya kuch payalon ki pyari si chanak bhi hoti,

Kya pata humare liye pyali bhar coffee koi dede,

Kya pata humse koi kuch pyar bhare bol bhi kehde,

Mohobat ho jati kisi ko humse to hume sukun bhi hota,

Kisi pr mat mitne ka hume jonoon bhi hota,

Hum bhi dhoond kr late kuch khubsoorat se tohfe,

Hum bhi talash lete chipkar unse milne ke moke,

Kya haseen hoti mohobat

Kya hassen kych pal bhi hote,

Khush khush sa ho jat aje jeena,

Khush khush kasam se hum bhi hote.

The Most Entertaining Television Series Released This Year

The nationwide lockdown of 2020 has forced us all to stay at our homes for an extended period. As a result, our time spent in front of the television has increased significantly. This was made easier due to the high quality of programming that is available on the many streaming platforms. We have seen some of the most entertaining television series released this year. Most of these series can be found on streaming platforms like Disney+ Hotstar, Netflix, Prime Videos, etc. The following is a list of amazing TV series that were released in the first half of the year 2020.

Money Heist

After the third part ended on a major cliff-hanger, the whole world was waiting for the next season at the edge of their seats. Some even binged all three seasons again just to catch up to the exciting finale in the third season. The fourth part was finally released on the 3rd of April 2020 and all the fans jumped on it immediately. Some even finished the complete season on the first night of its release. The series lived up to the expectations of the worldwide audience as it received amazing reviews almost across the board.

Money Heist is a very unique show. It is filled with exciting sequences and amazing plot twists, but at the same time, it keeps developing its characters. Side characters like Helsinki, who just seemed like henchmen in the first season, makes you fall in love with him deeply. Palermo, who is a despicable character in one half of the season, makes you tear up in the other half. You will experience a wide range of emotions while watching the show. All you need to do is switch it on and you will be hooked automatically.

Patal Lok

Patal Lok was one of the most anticipated new series of the year 2020. The show was brilliantly marketed to create hype, but as the hype increases, so does the risk of disappointment. However, this show did not just meet the expectations of the audiences, it exceeded them. The look and feel of the series reminds you of a David Fincher movie. The brilliant camera work keeps you hooked to your seats. The show’s technical achievements alone are enough to make it an entertaining piece of art.

“When a cynical inspector is assigned the investigation of a high-profile case, he discovers some dark secrets of the underworld.” Patal Lok provides a grim peak in the world of crime and misery. The show does not pull any punches and is definitely not the kind to watch with your family. But it is the ideal show to binge-watch in a day or two.

Panchayat

On a completely opposite end of the spectrum, Panchayat is a sweet and humble comedy that will put a smile on your face. It is a short series with eight episodes, each lasting no more than 35 minutes. The show is a simplistic and comical look at the life of the innocent villagers who live outside the worries of a metropolitan city.

The series revolves around the newly appointed secretary of the panchayat office at a remote village in Uttar Pradesh Abhishek Tripathi, played by the internet sensation Jitendra Kumar. In each episode, Abhishek has to deal with some problems related to village life. Throughout his journey, he learns to fall in love with the village and his work.

After Life

The second season of Ricky Gervais’s hit comedy-drama series, After Life, is as funny as the first one. The first season saw the protagonist, Tony Johnson, trying to end his life because he lost his will to live after the death of his beloved wife. The new season sees Tony as he is trying to help people find purpose in their lives as he tries to find happiness in his own.

While the premise of the show is quite depressing, its writing, performances, and gags are some of the funniest things we can find. It comments on some socially relevant issues and tackles sensitive topics like a god and transgender issues with brilliance. Ricky Gervais—being the creator of this show—has his stamp all over it and we cannot help but fall in love with it.

Conclusion

While the movie theatres, restaurants, and any other venues for fun are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, television is the only place where we can find any real entertainment. The year 2020 has come with a wide range of amazing and entertaining series. Mentioned above are some of the most entertaining television series released this year. Have you seen any of these? What shows are you watching currently? Did we forget any shows? Let us know on our Twitter, Instagram, or in the comment section below.

Life in a World where the Internet and Phones are Dead

Can you imagine what the world would be like if the internet stopped working and every phone in the world was rendered useless? I know some people are thinking, “That is impossible. Anything like that could never happen, and if it did, we would just build it again.” To those people, I say, “You should have more fun.”

Anyway, imagine that an alien race came down to the earth and took away the resources and technology that allowed the internet and telephones to exist. What would be that world like? It sounds devastating. Doesn’t it? But it has only been 144 years since the telephone was first invented and approximately 25 years since the internet was made available for public consumption. So in order to play this game, let us set some rules:

  • Only the Internet and telephones will cease to exist from tomorrow.
  • All other technologies including television, radio, flights, and even computers will still be functional.
  • People were made aware of the situation 6 months in advance so they can prepare for and accept the situation.

With all these rules in mind let’s see how the world will operate in this unique—hypothetical—scenario.

Communication

With the main source of communication dying off, the only way to move forward—at least for the near future—would be through letters. The government and the private companies should have started investing in the postal service, maybe even start training birds to carry messages. The focus would be to deliver the letter as quickly as possible. Maybe we could all own our birds that would deliver messages just like in the world of Harry Potter.

I can already see the advertising in my head:

  • Owls and pigeons of Vodafone: Wherever You Want, We Deliver.
  • Woodpeckers of Airtel: Small Messages, for Little Happiness.
  • Jio Sparrow: Jio Assaman Mai
  • While the government still delivers the letters the conventional way.

Some messages will be lost, some messages will be read by the wrong person, but all in all, it will be fine.

Entertainment

The entertainment industry will be hit the worst as most of the high-quality content that is available for consumption is available over the internet. We will have to return to entertaining ourselves with books, outdoor games, or the same procedural shows that we used to watch during the 80s and 90s. However, because we know the extent of talent that exists today, there will be a lot more events in town that will include concerts, sporting events, comedy shows theatres, etc.

Even the radio will have to change as the demand for the new media podcast will flood the market. In order to meet that demand, the radio stations will have to think of a new way for the conventional radio and podcasts to co-exist in the same space.

Economy

The IT sector will completely crash as all the work done in the sector is done over the internet. Many services will be rendered useless and it will also cause a lot of unemployment. However, the six month period will also allow these unemployed workers to find jobs in different sectors or even start their own business as the competition from the global market will see a steep decline. More factories and retail outlets are likely to open. We are also likely to see a number of new innovations that will change the way businesses are done. The processes will slow down in the beginning, but as we always do, humanity will bounce back.
